YorkMix Hero Awards 2025

We were once again proud to continue to support the YorkMix Hero Awards as headline sponsor for 2025. This annual event celebrates the unsung heroes of York and North Yorkshire—individuals whose acts of kindness, bravery, and dedication make our communities stronger.

Awards Night Highlights

The night was held with over 200 attendees including Lord Mayor Cllr Martin Rowley, Mayor of York and North Yorkshire David Skaith and councillors from all the main parties. Welcoming the guests were very popular alpacas.

The night was kicked off with a great opening speech by YorkMix Managing Director David Green, who joked about auctioning his orange jacket for charity.

This was followed by an excellent 3-course meal for all attendees, with entertainment throughout the evening.

This years music act was by singer, songwriter and curator of the Ignite Concerts Alistair Griffin

The ceremony then started with introductions from Laura Castle and Ben Fry

It was revealed that just over £1,800 had been raised for York Rescue Boat, however our own Director Amy Halliwell wanted to push further and probed on the ‘Jacket Auction’ joke further.

What resulted was an impromptu auction which resulted in the total raised being over £2,000… with Amy being the winning bidder.

Then we have the reason why we are all here, the Heros of the night, those who have gone above and beyond in their categories:

  • The Best Boss: Beth Welsh, Affinity Care Solutions
  • Charity Fundraiser of the Year: Cynthia Ford
  • Educator of the Year: Andy Bowen
  • Environmental Hero: Dan Sidley
  • Incredible Child: Megan Dodds
  • Neighbour of the Year: Matt & Sarah Turner
  • Volunteer of the Year: Claire Maxted Wiggins
  • Outstanding Bravery Award: Tom Lindsey and Morgan Carrot
  • Outstanding Talent: Shany Hagan
  • Parent or Guardian of the Year: Jessica Evison
  • In The Face of Adversity: Ollie Cousins

During the ceremony, all attendees have the chance to vote for their Ultimate Hero out of all the nominees. It was my honor to hand the award for Ultimate Hero to Menfulness!
