Stainless Steel Fabrication

This project was to fully fabricate a stainless steel gantry for the food industry. This stainless steel fabrication was designed by one of our clients and fully fabricated by ourselves to their specifications.

First the stainless steel box sections were cut to length and welded to create the frame. The facia plates were nearly 4 metres long, which meant we had to produce them in two halves, weld them in the middle then polish to look like one complete piece.

Working to a tight deadline the team pulled through to produce this excellent product.

Piercing Mild Steel

Aluminium Calliper

Once a small block of aluminium heading to the scrap bin, this part was cut to size on the waterjet machine with a 2mm machining allowance and then sub-contracted out to one of our clients to produce this lovely calliper.

Replicated Bracket

We understand that sometimes a drawing isn’t available and all you have is a part you require to be replicated. This is not a problem, our team can take the measurements off a sample you can provide to us and we can draw it up for you. We can then make any adjustments to the part which will make it more suitable for your requirements before manufacture.

Sometimes clients require replacements without any drawings available.

A Single Laser Cut

This part was cut using only a single line. The heat from the laser cutting didn’t seem to affect the quality despite it being a lot of cutting in a 10mm mild steel plate. The narrowest part is only 1mm.

This sample was manufactured using only 1 cut.

Laser Etched Part Numbers

We are able to use our industrial laser to etch part numbers onto steel and stainless plates. This is not the same as laser engraving and the quality isn’t ideal for “display purposes”. It is ideal for assisting with identifying parts or for markings with an industrial nature. All etching is single line and we are unable to offer “filled” areas.

Laser etching part numbers is possible with our industrial laser, however this is not the same as laser engraving.

Waterjet Cut 30mm Steel

The waterjet cutter is able to cut 30mm mild steel with a high level of accuracy. This profile is just 5mm wide and as there is no heat involved, the quality of the cut does not deteriorate. Both the outside profile and the inside of the hole have a smooth sandblasted appearance.

Composite Plywood Waterjet Cut Material

It isn’t always metals we handle here. Often we are required to cut a variety of materials which other cutting machines struggle to provide a high quality finish. These cut-outs were added to some composite plywood panels.

Waterjet cut composite plywood leaves a nice smooth finish.

The waterjet leaves a nice clean finish, unlike our laser cutter which would have left a distinctive burnt edge. The only down-side to waterjet cutting materials like plywood, is that on small holes, the pierce can lead to a small fracture as shown below.

We don’t just work with simple flat sheets of aluminium. We are capable of supplying, cutting and folding tread plates. This is part of a much larger mezzanine floor project we are working on…

Brass cut on waterjet

We sometimes worry when clients see how messy the waterjet is that parts will be received messy too. Below is an example of a polished brass part which is being cut on the waterjet, then after a quick rinse and dry a photo of the end result. Such plates are often used for decorative purposes.
